Summer is a great time to try out new and bright nail polishes! I recently purchased this new Essie nail polish called Enuf is Enuf for $8 at Shoppers. (I featured it in my Collective Haul video). This nail polish is a great splash of pink for the summer, and being Essie it's very durable. If you want to try a pop of colour without going completely over the top, I would recommend trying this nail polish!
Pros : This colour is amazing because it shows different colours based on what lighting you are in. It also adds a great pop of colour for the summer months, but isn't too over the top so it can also be worn in the winter months.
Cons : You do have to put on several coats for it's true colour to be seen, but other than that there isn't anything to complain about.
To check out more of Essie's fabulous colours view their website here. Do you love wearing bright nail polish? If you do what's your favourite brand and colour?

Tip : Making Your Foundation Last Longer!
I actually picked up this tip while watching Nikki Phillippi's apartment tour (you can visit her Youtube Channel here). She was mentioned a cool trick she had picked up to get the most out of your setting spray, and make your foundation last even longer. Since it's the middle of summer and it's stinkin' hot in Southern Ontario, I figured this would be the perfect time to share this foundation trick.
Setting Spray : Mac Fix + (retails $20 Canadian)
Step One : On a clean face apply your favourite daily moisturizer or lotion. I personally use Marcelle's Essential Oil Free Multi Defence Lotion*.
Step Two : Once your lotion is applied, spray your setting spray of choice all over your face. Be sure to let it dry before continuing on with Step Three.
Step Three : Apply your favourite foundation (or BB Cream - I use Marcelle's BB Cream*), blush, bronzer, eyeshadow, etc.
Step Four : After you are completely finished you make up, spray your setting spray once more.
And that's simply it! I find by spraying the setting spray both before and after your foundation is the key to making it last longer. I find my BB Cream lasts 8 hours plus, even in this hot weather! What is your trick to making your foundation last longer?

Summer Snacks!
Durning the summer, we're all a lot busier (between work and our social lives), and we all try to eat a lot better. So I thought for this Saturday post I'd talk about some healthy (and easy) summer snacks!
Fresh Fruit : During the summer fresh fruit is one of the best snacks you can eat! Strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, bananas (the list goes on and on), are all amazing in the summer! They also make great snacks to go! Cut some up the night before and put in a container, so when you're in a rush in the morning you can simply grab and go. Also during these hot summer days, try leaving some fruit in your freezer for about 30 minutes to have some chilled (not frozen) fruit.
Smoothies : Another great snack on the go (and you can use fresh fruit too). Blend up some fruit, yogurt (or vanilla ice cream) and some ice, and pesto, you have a smoothie!
Popsicles : Buying popsicles from the grocery store can be costly, and aren't that great for you. Instead invest in a popsicle tray (Ikea has cheap ones) and pour in some fruit juice, or lemonade. Or if you want to get fancy, you can freeze a smoothie.
Fresh Veggies : Like fruit, fresh vegetables are in abundance during the summer time. Take advantage of this and stock your fridge up with tones of veggies. To save time, wash, chop and store your veggies ahead of time so all you have to do is grab the container!
What are your favourite snacks for summer time?

Weekly Tip : Easy Curls
This week's weekly tip is going to be about how to get easy curls. Now this works best if you have natural waves in your hair (which I do). However my straight haired friends do not worry, this should still work for you. :)
This hairdo actually starts the night before, and requires little heat!
1. Have a shower, and apply your favourtie post shower serum (Mine is Moroccan Argon Oil) and towel dry your hair.
2. After put your hair up into a bun (two if you have thick hair) and leave for about an hour.
3. Before you go to bed make sure to loosen your bun for comfort.
4. The next morning take out your buns and loosen your hair with your fingers.
5. Touch up your curls with a curling iron and apply your favourite hair spray!
And you're done!! I love doing these kind of curls in the summer especially because with the warm weather I don't have to be using a lot of heat on my hair. Do you have any tips for getting curls with little to no heat? Leave your suggestions in the comments below!

I've recently gotten a Polyvore account (http://sally-may-xox.polyvore.com/) and I wanted to do an OOTD today! This outfit is inspired by the pastel trend, and is something great to wear for a day on the boardwalk!
Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the lovely weather!

Fun Summer Dates
Summer is finally here, and that means summer dates nights! Instead of hiding out inside, put on your sunshades and head outside with your significant other. Not only will heading outside brighten your mood, you can also catch some rays. Below are a couple of great date night ideas for the summer.
Ice Cream Date - Mine and my boyfriend's personal favourite! We love going out after dinner, grabbing some ice cream and go for a walk. Google ice cream parlours near a park in your area and head out for a fun, cheap evening. Not only can you cool off, but it gives you a chance to catch up.
Canoeing - If you live near a lake, or a river rent a canoe for the day or a couple of hours. Leave your cell phones in the car (a good idea to save them from getting wet) and take in nature together. Bring your waterproof camera to take some photos with each other.
Hiking - Don't live near a lake but feel like being active? No problem! Find a hiking trail near your and strap on your running shoes. Don't forget to put on your sunscreen.
Discover a New Town - Don't feel like canoeing or hiking? Get in your car and drive in any direction, and stop in a small town you haven't been to before. Wander around and enjoy discovering a new place together!
Try out these fun summer dates and try something new! Discovering new places and trying new things is a great bonding experience. And who knows maybe you'll find a new favourite date night idea! What's your favourite summer date night?

Beautiful Canadian Weather
So lucky for me I got the day off today, and it was gorgeous. I am a huge fan of the heat, I cannot stand the cold, it drives me nuts and our winters are terrible, but man do I love our summers. Today was 29 degrees (celsius for those who don't know that is about 84 degrees farenheit) without the humadex. It was lovely, the sun was shining and I took this opportunity to spend the day outside. I met up with some friends in Cambridge, which is only 15 minutes from where I live and we walked a trail for about two hours and it was so beautiful. It felt wonderful to be outside in the sun. Now after this little adventure we went to a restaurant that sat right on the lake, it was stunning, and the breeze was amazing. After a quick ice cream stop, I was back home. I decided at this point I still wanted to soak in the sun and went for a quick jog around my neighbourhood. All in all it was a wonderful day. I wanted to go to the beach today but plans fell through, BUT because it's a long weekend I may head there on Victoria day which is monday! The only thing that would of made my day better would of been if I could of went for a swim... I live for the water haha maybe I was born half fish ;)
What do all of you like to do on those hot summer days? Leave me a comment!

Summer Reading
Summer is just around and for most of us that means more time for reading. For this post I'd like to briefly talk about my top choices for summer reading.
*Note none of these are in any particular order.
1984 by George Orwell
This book is a classic and a must read for me. I love the combination of sci fi and romance in one! It's a great read, however at times it may seen a bit more dense.
The Book of Negros by Lawrence Hill
I first read this book two years ago and I seem to always come back to it. It's an amazing story of one girl's journey from the plains in Africa to slavery in America and finally to freedom in England. The book however does have some graphic descriptions and violence in it.
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer
The movie for this book came out this year - which I have not seen but the book itself is very lovely. It's a book based on how the after math of 9/11 effected families in New York. A very well written and heart warming book, also an easy read.
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin
Like 1984 I find this to be a classic and a must read. The romance and family troubles Jane Austin wrote about are still relevant in today's era. I absolutely love this love story and find it to be my favourite love story of all times. It's a great book to curl up with either on a rainy day or out in the sun.
A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin
This is the first book in the series and has become very popular in the past year. The TV show I hear is also amazing. I have not read this book yet, but I figured I should include in this list as I will be reading it shortly. All of the books in the series (5 novels in total) are currently out and I look forward to reading them all!
I hope this short list has given you some ideas for reading material for either a vacation or just for your spare time. I any of you wish to have a full review of any of the books you can contact us on our Twitter, Facebook, or in the comments.
Happy reading!
